Hi, I’m Angela - Paediatric Occupational Therapist | Melbourne
Hi, I’m Angela
I’ve spent nearly two decades working as a paediatric occupational therapist in Melbourne and the United Kingdom, helping families make sense of their children’s sensory worlds, nervous systems and behaviour.
I know this work inside and out. Becoming a mum showed me something no training could. Knowledge doesn’t protect you from depletion. I found myself doing the very thing I had talked about with so many parents. Pushing through. Ignoring what my body was telling me. Giving from an empty cup. On the busy days, it took very little to tip me into overwhelm, and I wasn’t the parent I wanted to be.
Things began to shift when I started listening to myself. Noticing when I was running hot or starting to shut down. Paying attention to the signals I had been overriding. Finding small, doable things that helped me to feel steadier, often in the middle of a messy, noisy day.
It changed how I felt. It also changed how I showed up for my daughter, my family and myself.
The Parent Regulation Menu grew from this. It’s been my most downloaded resource. It starts with recognising what’s going on for you, then taking small steps to feel a little steadier.
